University Administration: This module will take care of all administrative processes for the university.
Defining the global parameters: Global Parameters is a module in which all the global and basic data required for the UMS application will be defined. This includes defining Languages, Time Zones, ISO Codes (Example: UOM), Currencies, Countries, Regions, Cities. Human resource and planning: HRP deals with activities related to employee working in the university. It includes employee management, recruitments, terminations, promotions, selection process, leave management, travel management and loan management. Payroll: This module is to generate payroll for employees. It will provide end to end payroll solution for university. Admissions & Examinations:Admissions handles all the activities related to student admissions, scholarships, hostel accommodation and library related admissions. Examination Section in the UMS portal provides the information related to forth coming examination, application forms, and entrance examinations and admit cards. Affiliation:University shall have the power to affiliate any academic programme in any college with in the university area, for admissions, for degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions of the university. Security: Security module will be designed to cater over all security related needs. Security module will be used for creating users for applications, defining roles and groups for applications, assigning access privileges for user roles. Project management and grants: This module helps the management to effectively manage project and related grants distribution. It automates the project requests and allows the user to manage all the phases of a project, manages notifications for inviting applications, optimizes the process for reviewers to review project applications. It provides a decision supports system for evaluating and sanctioning grants. The system will provide a flexible interface to get the information from the applicants. Projects can be managed very effectively reducing the manual efforts, time and costs. Document management system: This module is used for managing all the university documents from centralized repository. Centralized repository for managing the documents. It provides various templates which are already in use by the university. Document approvals, rejections can be done by the respective authority using this module. It supports Versioning and helps in defining Templates for documents, maintaining document history and controlling the documents according to the privileges. Knowledge management system: Knowledge management system is part of UMS portal through which the knowledge is shared between the university and others by exposing the university articles and research globally. The blogs will be created for all the KMS users and this user can post an article, lesson and thesis. The KMS will provide a search engine for searching all articles, lesson and thesis. It also provides facility to down load documents related to articles. Career counseling: This module includes student career and higher education suggestions and placements. It identifies the skills used in career counseling and identifies some examples of formal and informal assessment tools and techniques. It organizes career Events for the students. This module suggests best suitable courses to guide the students and also provides interview tips for the students. It maintains Employer management-Recruiting Contracts, Job Postings. Library management system: Library management system is used to automate all Libraries in the university. It is a complete automation process for issuing books, monitoring books, managing borrowers. Tracking of lost books and new book registration will also be done. Fixed assets Management: All the university assets which are non perishable are managed here. These assets will be classified according to class and sub class. The asset information will be available based on locations also. Asset depreciation can be calculated according to the formulas defined. Material management 'Inventory': All the stock related to university is maintained here. These stocks are perishable, which are used in most of the transactions between the departments, persons. Procurement: This module helps in managing purchase indents and requisitions, generating quotations with reference to indents or requisitions also without reference, managing the purchase orders with reference to quotations, Vendor Management and Managing contracts and tenders. Workflow: Workflow handles the processing of requests and sending the same to various persons/roles defined by the user in the present hierarchy. The Workflow module offers following features: (i). Registering and Un Registering of a Process. (ii). Creation of Workflow policies for various process registered. (iii). Up Holding and Resuming of a Request Posted. (iv). Delegation and Revoking of the process to the participants. (v). Automatic display of the status of the requests placed by the requester on their dashboard when they log in to the system. (vi). Creation of Workflow Route. (vii). Creation of various look ups such as priority and States. (viii). Posting of Requests. (ix). Facilitates the user to contribute for the requests. (x). Facilitates the user to approve or reject the requests. (xi). Recalling of requests Finance: Finance is the area where cash and bank transactions are dealt and all the budget creations and allocations are also done here. It helps in managing Charts of Accounts, defining, managing segments and managing General Ledger for all cash and bank transaction. It automates fund disbursement. Taxation: Taxation module used to create user define tax components, which can be reused in all tax related transactions. It helps to define various local and commonly applicable tax components. For example: Service Tax, Professional Tax, VAT etc MIS (Reports): This module will generate all kind of reports necessary for university. These reports are used for many purposes like analyzing, issuing etc. There are standard reports defined for university. Also reports can be generated dynamically based on the new requirements Portal : University portal is designed for the students, teachers and university staff to enable them to avail most of the services and information like (i).
